SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the team, directing production and order fulfillment. The Operations Supervisor will occasionally be the senior representative of the operations department and as such have plant facility accountability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

People and Culture

  • Recommends staffing level based on workload, participates in the interviewing process

Lean Production 

  • Responsible for order fulfillment, managing inventory, production, and scheduling.
  • Assigns or delegates and oversees all production work, duties, and tasks.
  • Responsible for executing lean road-map for assigned areas, determine benefits and resources required, set priorities for improvement.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement as an innovator of positive change that impacts the safety, profitability, inventory turns, on-time delivery, lead-time, and quality (effectiveness is measured primarily through predetermined metrics)
  • Responsible for cross-training efforts to best support safety, quality, productivity, cost, and schedule commitment
  • Execute Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including set-up reduction, workplace organization, standardized work, process/workflow improvements, visual management, and inventory reduction
  • Responsible for all shipping and receiving work, duties, and tasks.
  • Responsible for Inventory.  Minimize or eliminate inventory write-downs.
  • Works closely with Sales to schedule orders and meet commitments.
  • Works closely with Customer Service Rep to finalize sales orders on time for immediate invoicing.
  • Directs driver and routes local deliveries in collaboration with Sales and Shipping and Receiving.
  • Collaborates routinely with Director of Sales, Territory Managers, and Customer Service Representatives supporting sales & marketing goals and objectives.
  • Reviews daily/weekly reports, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Performs monthly physical inventory and constantly maintains accurate inventory.
  • Submits periodic reports to the Director of Operations

Safety 

  • Accountable for the daily shift startup meeting
  • Maintains plant security, opening, and closing of the plant.  Monitors all comings and goings.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings.  Always be on time.
  • Responsible for annual goals toward completion of FlashCo’s tiered safety plan.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance programs.
  • Completes and submits all work and reports accurately and on time.
  • Minimizes freight expense and cost of running company vehicles, not sacrificing customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and clean plant including all other non-work areas.
  • Reviews and approves all plant relevant invoices to maintain expense awareness and assist in reducing expenditures where possible.

Actively participates in own development plan by taking training courses approved by Plant Manager or Director of Operations per quarter.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
    • Minimum significant progress towards an Associate’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of five years’ experience leading a production team.
  • Open to relocation
  • Understanding of Lean principles – Lean Certification Preferred
  • Hold a valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Much of the work consists of conveying information verbally and in writing and working on a computer while sitting or standing for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk; use a finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds with regularity. Use of arms above the shoulder is sometimes required. The employee occasionally may need to transport himself or herself to another office location in mild to inclement weather. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • The position will be working primarily indoors in an office environment, but also requires the employee to be in the outdoors regularly, thus encountering varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be higher in the outdoors. Shop noise can be loud.
  • The product line involves lead-based products that require special handling procedures. An annual blood test is required to monitor lead levels.
  • Work may require weekend and/or evening work.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although infrequent out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected.
